Martin Luther King Jr made his presence for his speech "I have a dream." (History.com) After the speech Martin was voted "man of the year" for time magazine in 1963. The speech was watched by more than 200,000 people assembled for the march on Washington. After 12 hours of waiting to give his speech, he still wasn't quite sure what to say. In 1964 the civil rights act would be passed legally ending the Jim Crow law era. Shortly after he gave a speech called "how long will it take?" (Brainyquotes.com) Martin wanted desegregation of schools, he was arrested many times for his speeches and movements. Martin was recognized as one of the greatest leaders of the non-violent movements of all time.
